Genesis 11.9

Updated formatting for Folate/Folic Acid on the US 2016 tabular and linear labels

The FDA has clarified the formatting for folate/folic acid for the tabular and linear labels so these updates have been made.

Ingredient Designations

This section added to the Ingredient record but only applicable to Canada and Mexico labels. Options on this screen are used to prompt specific FOP calculations or Ingredient Statement grouping.

MEXICO LABEL

Much of the 11.9 update reflects regulatory changes to Mexico labeling.

Front-of-Package symbols changed to warning icons and text

Previously, the FOP icons were designed to inform consumers of the amounts of certain nutrients. With the 2020 regulation, the FOP icons are now warning symbols, required when a nutrient exceeds established thresholds.

Trans fat and Added Sugars now mandatory label nutrients

Both will automatically appear on the label regardless of quantity. In most cases, Added Sugars will need to be manually populated. (Not populated in most ESHA database foods as of October 2020)

Voluntary vitamins and minerals will only be listed on the label if they are selected and are present in amounts equal to or greater than 5% of the VNR.

Dual column options added

You can now create a Dual Column label that shows nutrient amounts per 100g and per container OR nutrient amounts per 100g and per serving.

All added sugars grouped in Ingredient Statement

Any added sugar ingredients will now be grouped in parenthesis as Added Sugars. Like so: Added Sugars (honey, brown sugar, table sugar).
