Combining Like Components Above the Black Line
Mandatory or voluntary nutrient components, from either active or inactive ingredients, will be placed on the label in the order dictated by the Supplement Facts labeling regulations. Ingredients with like components will be combined. Other ingredients will be placed on the label in the order they are listed in the formula.
Consider a formula, Calcium Plus, where two forms of calcium and two forms of magnesium are used in making the formula. After entering the ingredients into the Formula screen, the default tabular label will look similar to the screen below.
Click on each nutrient in the label display to make the appropriate edits.
Calcium
- Clicking the S button next to calcium citrate and calcium malate in the Sources section will add these compounds next to calcium on the label.
- The program will list these compounds in order of quantity.
Magnesium
- Clicking the S button next to magnesium oxide and magnesium citrate in the Sources section will add these compounds next to magnesium on the label.
- The program will list these compounds in order of quantity.
Calcium Citrate
- This does not need to be listed on the label, since the information has been included next to Calcium.
- Clicking the S button next to Calcium Citrate will remove this compound from the label.
Calcium Malate
- This does not need to be listed on the label, since the information has been included next to Calcium.
- Clicking the S button next to Calcium Malate will remove this compound from the label.
Magnesium Oxide
- This does not need to be listed on the label, since the information has been included next to Magnesium.
- Clicking the S button next to Magnesium Oxide will remove this compound from the label.
Magnesium Citrate
- This does not need to be listed on the label, since the information has been included next to Magnesium.
- Clicking the S button next to Magnesium Citrate will remove this compound from the label.
The image below shows the resulting label, combining calcium and magnesium from different sources. Other options are available to list the sources in parentheses next to the nutrient name.
- Note: Changes made here will not affect the other label templates for the same formula.
