Label Tools
Use these features to determine or set the label size, and to view, print, and delete the label.
Open Label
Click on this pull-down menu to see a list of labels that have been created for the formula. Select a label to view it.
New Label
Click on this pull-down menu to see a list of labels that can be used as a foundation for creating new labels. Bold entries are templates that are available to all formulas in the system. Non-bold entries are specific to the formula being viewed. Highlight a label to select it. The program will provide a field above the serving size options for entering a label name. The default name, New Label, can be overwritten, or left as is. The default label name may have a number next to it, New Label (1), if the formula already has a label with that name.
New Template
Click this option to create a template from the active label. The program will prompt to enter a new template name. The new template will be available to all formulas and the name will appear in bold under the New Label option.
Size To Fit
Click this option to zoom in or out to fit the page. The actual size of the label is shown on the ruler. The rendered size is display dependent.
Delete
Click on this option to delete the displayed label.
Click this option to print the displayed label.
Label Size
Several options are available to determine or set the label size. The numbers in the Height, Width and Units fields will reflect the measurement size of the current label. Overwrite the height and width numbers to change the label size. When you resize a label, the nutrients will wrap when appropriate.
NOTE: Adjust the height or the width, then wait for the program to respond before adjusting further.
Format
Use these features to apply some general formatting changes.
Use Abbreviations
Check this option to use standard abbreviations that are allowed on the label.
Make Key Nutrients Bold
Check this option to make bold the key NLEA nutrients.
Packaging Claims
This option lists nutrients that are associated with packaging claims. Selected nutrients will be added to the label and placed in the required nutrient order. Click on the nutrient in the label display to set the amount, select formatting options, or delete it from the label.
Dietary Nutrients
This option lists NLEA nutrients that are not currently listed on the label. Selected nutrients will be added to the label and placed in the required nutrient order. Click on the nutrient in the label display to set the amount, select formatting options, or to delete it from the label.
NOTE: As a reminder, nutrients that can round to zero should not be displayed on the supplement facts panel. When choosing dietary nutrients to display, only select those items that contain reportable amounts.
Although you adjust any nutrient quantity directly from the label, best practice would be to adjust your formula to create desired label results.
Components
This option lists compounds that were added to the Formula but removed from the label. Selected compounds will be added back to the label. The field will be blank if no compounds were removed from the label.
Font
Use these features to edit the type and size of font.
Font Type
The default Label font is Arial. Another font can be selected from the drop-down menu.
Font Size
Either enter a font size number or use the slider to adjust the font size. The program will make adjustments, maintaining the label size set in the Label Tools section. These options are not available for the Linear label.
- Default: This option governs the font size of the sections that list the nutrients and compounds.
- Header: This option governs the font size of the %DV header section.
- Footnote: This option governs the font size of the footnote at the bottom of the label.
- Indent: This option allows changing the placement of the indented compounds.
- Heavy Bar: This option governs the thickness of the heavy bar.
- Light Bar: This option governs the thickness of the light bar.
Reset
Click reset to rest to the program default.
NOTE: The font section displays multiple sizing options related to the font size in the label. The label defaults to the smallest regulation type sizes. If you wish to adjust the sizing of the label best practice is to use the purple handles on the label to make adjustments, and to use the ribbon font section for small adjustments only. This will maintain the ratio needed in order to meet the labeling requirements.
