Entering Ingredient Statement Information
This screen lets you set an Ingredient Statement name for this ingredient to use in creating future Ingredient Statements on your Label AND to list any sub-ingredients. The purpose of entering an Ingredient Statement Name is two-fold: (1) to simplify, if necessary, the name of your Ingredient (example: “Chicken, boneless, for use in soup recipes” can read as “Boneless, skinless chicken”) and (2) to merge similar existing items.
Create Ingredient Statement Name and sub-ingredient text
- Select Edit.
- In 'Ingredient Statement Name', type in the name of the ingredient as you want it to appear on the Ingredient Statement. Ex: Chicken
- (Optional) In 'Sub Ingredients', type in the Sub Ingredients. What you enter here will appear after the ingredient in the Ingredient Statement. Be sure to include the parentheses. Ex: (boneless, skinless) will appear present the final full ingredient statement as: Chicken (boneless, skinless)
- Repeat for other languages, if necessary.
If what you enter in the Ingredient Statement Name field exactly matches something that was previously entered, the program will let you know, and you can merge existing Ingredient Statement Names if desired.
Note: If this Ingredient Statement information will be shared among Recipes or the ingredient statement being edited is duplicated, a warning dialog will appear.
Additional Note: For many ESHA ingredients, the Ingredient Statement Name may be pre-populated. However, this is not meant to be final language for any ingredient statement, even for US purposes. In some cases there are different spellings or even completely different English terms used from one country to another. The intent of this field is to simplify the name in comparison with the Traditional name, but ultimately, your organization is responsible for the final ingredient names that will be listed on product packaging or other means of information distribution). At this time, we do not provide final ingredient list information.
