Protein Quality Index (Amino Acid Score)
The Protein Quality Index in the program is based on data from the “Report of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Consultation on Protein Quality Evaluation" as outlined in the CFR.
The Protein Quality Scoring Pattern (mg/g protein) is the suggested pattern requirement for pre-school children (age 2-5 years). This pattern is used in the context of U.S. food labeling for foods intended for consumers 1 year and older.
