Linking

Linking an Item

When you first use DataLink, your TraceGains items will not be linked to the corresponding TraceGains Ingredient in your Genesis database and will appear with this icon.

To link the TraceGains item to a Genesis Ingredient

  1. Click the item in the list on the left. This will initiate a search for the user-created Ingredient in the Genesis database.
  2. If the Ingredient name matches the TraceGains name exactly, it will appear in the search results. (If not - and this happens sometimes, depending on your company's naming conventions - edit the name as needed in the "Link to Genesis Food" field and try your search again.) NOTE: The search only looks for user-created Ingredients, not those included in the Genesis database.

  3. Review the data by clicking the Ingredient name to see a comparison of nutrient data between the TraceGains ingredient and the Genesis ingredient. Conflicting values appear in red.
  4. Click the Link icon.

This links the TraceGains item to the Genesis database Ingredient. Once this initial linking process is performed, then future experiences would be linking data updates from TraceGains. Linked data will overwrite data in the Genesis database, including Nulls. After an update the Ingredient data will match that from TraceGains.

An EXL (Esha Program File) will be created and attached to the updated item, this would enable the user to import this item if desired to rollback the item to the previous state at a future time (thus unlinking the item from the TraceGains updates.)

Note: The updates will not be permanent until you click the Update __ Items button.
