Using Common Names

A Common Name is generally a shortened version of the long database name. Example: juice, orange, prepared from concentrate, with calcium & vitamin D vs. Orange Juice. Many of the Ingredients already have Common Names associated with them.

    1. From the Home ribbon, select Preferences.
    2. In the General window, expand Display
    3. Check Use Common Name.
    4. Click OK.

For those items that do not have a Common Name, you will have to enter one.

    1. Right-click on the Ingredient in your Menu and select Open Item.
    2. Enter the desired text in the Common Name field.
    3. Click OK.
