Creating a Menu Plan
- Go to New and select Menu Plan.
- The information screen opens. Here you name the Menu Plan and assign a User Code if so desired. You can search by User Codes later.
- Groups Tab: Here you can assign your Menu Plan to a Group, Database, or Characteristic to simplify searches or for organizational purposes. You can search by Groups later.
- Compare To Tab: Here you can select the profile to compare the Menu Plan to. Check the Compare Document to Profile box. You can either select a Generic Profile (US Label Adult, for example) or a customized profile that you have already created.
- Notes Tab: Here you can add notes and include any relevant information about the Menu Plan.
- When you click OK, the Menu Plan screen opens. The right panel is your Day. The left panel is the Food Pick List. As you add foods to your Day, the "Food Pick List" will be populated with those foods as well. You can add previously entered foods to your Day from Food Pick List rather than return to the search.
- To start creating your first Day, perform a search by entering words or partial words into the Search For box and click Search. (For more on Searches, click here.)
- Choose the item and double-click it. This opens the Modify Foodlist Item screen.
- The Quantity and Measure fields will be pre-populated with the RACC value for that item (as provided by the manufacturer, the USDA or our database team). You can Enter your Quantity and Measure if different and applicable. In general, we recommend using a common household measure such as "1 cup" or "1 slice."
- Select a Meal (optional).
- Select a Collection (optional).
Your first item will look something like this:
A full Day will look like this:
This is an example of a Select Menu, where patrons are allowed to choose an item in each collection for their meal.
