Creating your Standard, Tabular or Linear U.S. Label

Creating your Standard, Tabular or Linear U.S. Label

This page assumes you have completed the steps for the Setup Details and are ready to continue with the specifics of creating a Label for the U.S.

Label Templates

The program will use the temple you selected to draw your label. In most cases, selecting Standard is the best option. However, depending on package size, labeling space and contents, you may be able to use Tabular or Linear. Click the Learn More link on that label template to help you decide which label to use.

For an extensive discussion on label templates, visit this page: Which Label Should You Use?

  • Click the template. A blue check will indicate your selection.

When you have finished setting up your label, click Continue to Label

Select Recipes

Here is where you choose the Recipe you want to generate a Label for.

  1. Type full or partial words into the search field

  2. Press Enter on your keyboard.

  3. From the search returns, check the one you wish to add

Serving Options

Most labeling situations require the display of a household serving size and the number of servings per container.

  1. Type the household serving size in the text field. It can be a combination of letters and numbers. Example: 1 cup.

  2. Type the servings per container in the text field. It, too, can be a combination of letters and numbers. Examples: 4, About 6.

  3. Click Apply & Next to go to the next option or Apply & Close to close this dialog.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

If your product contains only one serving, you can hide the serving per container.

  • Check Hide Servings per container

Recipe

This first line shows the gram weight for the Recipe, either as calculated by the program or as entered by you. This will appear in parentheses on the label.

There are special instances when you can hide the Recipe weight

  • Check Hide Recipe Serving Size

If your product is a liquid product and you have entered a volume conversion, you will want to show the mL amount on your label.

  • Check Show Serving Size Amount in mL (milliliters)

Approving your label will keep this version from being edited. To edit this label, you can make any modifications and the program will automatically create a new version. You will always be able to return to the original approved version.
