To add the symbol and footnote for single-ingredient sugar products (this includes pure maple syrup, honey, agave, table sugar, etc.)
- With your Recipe on-screen, go to Edit Label
- Select Format Options
- Expand U.S.
- Scroll to Added Sugars and expand
- Check Show Single Ingredient Symbol and Footnote
- Click OK. It will look something like this (note that when you select the footnote option, the quantitative value and "Added Sugars" is automatically hidden, per the FDA's guidance:
To add the footnote and clarifying statement for cranberries
- With your Recipe on-screen, go to Edit Label
- Select Format Options
- Expand U.S.
- Scroll to Added Sugars and expand
- Check Show Palatability and Statement.
- Type in the desired text.
- Click OK. It will look something like this:
