User Added Fields

Choose or create user-added fields, and enter the appropriate data. User-added fields can be local or global and can be added to ingredients, formulas or both. A user-added field added on the Formula screen will be local and applied to Formulas only, by default. This can be changed in the Options menu. User-added fields appear in the slide-out section on the right and on the Formula Report.

Local User-added fields: These appear in the pull-down menu and can be available for selection for all Ingredients, Formulas or both.

Global User-added fields: These are pre-selected user-added fields, and can appear in bold for all Ingredients, Formulas or both. The global option is set in the Options menu.

Alternate Names

Enter a name or names that would be useful when searching for the item later. For example alternate spellings.

General Properties

User Code

Enter any combination of letters and/or numbers. User Codes must be unique throughout the database. The user code can be used as a filter in the formula search.

Groups

Choose or create a group for the formula. Groups are global, meaning they are available to all ingredients and formulas. Groups are included in the search filter options on the Open screen. Groups can also be created from the Options menu.

Conversions

This field is for specifying conversions for volume, weight, or each (tablet, capsule, etc) measures that are specific to the formula. This information allows additional measures to be used when adding the formula to another formula.

Example: If the conversion,1 cup = 240 grams, is entered, the formula can be added to another formula as 1/4 tsp or any volume measure. If no conversion is entered, formulas are added to formulas as a weight measure only (a weight measure is always available by default).

Serving Size

Servings per Container

Specify the number of servings per container.

Serving Size

Specify the serving size and unit of measure desired for the Formula screen calculations. This will display on the Supplement Facts label.

Prepared Amount

If the formula is typically prepared before consuming, enter the prepared amount and unit of measure here. This can be listed on the Supplement Facts label.

Manufacturing

Number of Containers

Specify the number of containers in the batch.

Batch Weight Unit

Enter the desired unit for reporting the formula amounts in the Formula Amount column and for reporting the total Batch Weight at the bottom of the screen. The default unit is Kilograms. Click on Kilogram to select another unit from the drop down box.

Cost Unit

Select which unit to calculate and display cost in.

Organic Properties

Organic Target Percentage

Set target organic percent amounts here. If any of the ingredients used in your formula have an Organic Percentage entered, the Percent Organic column will appear with those values listed. The program will then automatically calculate the total organic percentage of the formula from the percent organic amount of any individual ingredients.

This total percent will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. If the target amount is met or exceeded, the percent will appear in green.

If not, the percent will be shown in red.

Archive

Archive

Click this option to archive the Formula. This moves the Formula into the Archive group and hides it from regular searching.

NOTE: Formulas are not deleted from the program but rather archived. Once an item is archived, it is placed in the Archive Group. It will no longer be visible in the formula search however the record will remain in the program. You can view all Archived Foods from the Open Screen by clicking on the Archive Group. If you wish to use or view the formula again, click on the Archive Group and select the formula to open it. Once open, click on the archive button again to un-archive the ingredient. This will put the formula back into the regular search function.

When archiving a formula is may be best practice to rename the item with the word “Archived” in front of the ingredient name. You may also wish to include the date the items was archived. This will help in keeping track of formula changes.

Notes

This is a free-form text field that can be used to add notes about the Formula. Formula Notes will appear in the right side slide-out section of the Formula screen and will also appear in the Formula Report.

  1. Click on the Notes icon

  2. Enter text

  3. Click on the Notes icon again to save

Special Blends

A special blend can be added as a formula to the final formula. This option allows a label claim unit and an overage to be entered for the special blend as a whole. The Formula screen will show the blend ingredients but does not allow further editing. Blend ingredients should be edited in the blend formula before the blend is added to the final formula.

Blend ingredients act like any other and will appear in the Ingredient statement.
