BEFORE YOU BEGIN

  • Build the Recipe for this label. If you need instruction on how to do that, refer to the Recipe Quickstart.

1. First Things First

  1. Log in to Genesis Foods with your email and the password you received from your admin, if you have not already done so.

  2. On the Dashboard, click New Label.

2. Set Up Your Label Template

Note: For version 1.0, only U.S. labels are available. As such, you cannot currently select different years, recomendation profiles or bilingual. This will change as more labels are added.

  1. Type the name of your Recipe in the Name text field using the established naming best practices agreed on by your organization. The Name entry can accommodate letters and numbers.

  2. Choose the label template. For more information on each type, click the More Info link.

  3. Click Continue to Create Label

3. Add the Recipe to the Label

  1. Click the + button

  2. Search for your Recipe by entering full or partial words.

  3. Check your Recipe in the list of returns.

  4. Click Apply & Next.

4. Add Household Serving Size and Servings per container

You must have a Household Serving Size and number of Servings per container on your label — in most cases — in order for it to be compliant. We recommend that you consult the RACC list for an appropriate household serving size for your food.

  1. For household serving size, type the household serving size in the text field. It can be a combination of letters and numbers. Example: 1 cup.

  2. For servings per container, type the number of servings per container in the text field. It, too, can be a combination of letters and numbers. Examples: 4, About 6.

  3. Optional: If your product is a liquid product and you have entered a volume conversion, you will want to check Show Serving Size Amount in mL (milliliters)

  4. Click Apply & Close

You’re done!

You now have a compliant label to use on your packaging. Of course, there are many, many modification options for layout, how certain nutrients are displayed, and more. Please review those at your leisure. For more information, see the Label chapter.

Optional: Approve and Download

When you have finished setting up your label exactly as you want it, you can choose to Approve your label and/or Download a printable or editable version.

Approving your label will keep this version from being edited. To edit this label, you can make any modifications and the program will automatically create a new version. You will always be able to return to the original approved version.
