BEFORE YOU BEGIN

  • Build the Recipe for this label

Note: Genesis Foods will automatically save your work every few seconds, but there are some actions that require a manual save.

First steps

  1. Log in to Genesis Foods with your email and the password you received from your admin, if you have not already done so.

  2. On the Dashboard, click New Label.

This will take you to the Label dashboard where you add a Recipe to your Label and make necessary adjustments.

Setup Details

Note: For version 1.0, only U.S. labels are available. As such, you cannot currently select different years, recomendation profiles or bilingual. This will change as more labels are added.

Name

Use the established naming best practices agreed on by your organization. The name entry can accommodate letters and numbers.

  • Type the name in the Name field.

Authority

The Authority (this will be the name of a country or region) dictates the regulations for this Label.

  • Select your Authority from the menu options. What you select here will determine what regulation years and recommendation profiles are available.

Regulation Year

If you are creating your product during a compliance grace period, you may be able to use the older regulations. The most recent date will always represent the latest regulations. Available regulation years depend on Authority selected.

  • Select your regulation year from the menu options.

Recommendation Profile

Depending on the Authority and Regulation Year you have selected, these will be some variations of Adult, Child, Infant, Pregnant/Lactating. Most often, Adult is the correct selection unless your product is specifically made for a child or an infant. Recommendation Profiles will affect the % daily values on your label, but not the quantitative values.

  • Select the recommendation profile from the menu options.

Bilingual

Some Authorities allow for bilingual labels. The languages available are dependent upon the Authority you selected.

  • Check the box to show the nutrition data in two languages on your label and use the bilingual label layout.

Label Templates

The program will use the temple you selected to draw your label. In most cases, selecting Standard is the best option. However, depending on package size, labeling space and contents, you may be able to use Tabular or Linear. Click the Learn More link to help you decide which label to use.

  • Click the template. A blue check will indicate your selection.

When you have finished setting up your label, click Continue to Label
