Genesis R&D Supplements was designed to make the supplement development and labeling process easier with tools for formula creation and modification, batch scale-up, costing, analysis, labeling and more. This video is a brief overview of how it works:
The following definitions are used in describing the program functions and features.
Components
Components and their amounts are the building blocks of ingredients, and will mostly be vitamins or minerals, some of which must appear on your Supplement Facts labels. Others are voluntary. Components also include water or ash (inactive) or chemical compounds, such as lead and arsenic. An ingredient may be composed of one or more than one component.
Ingredients
Ingredients are anything you use to create your Formulas, such as Vitamin C powder, or dried sage, for example. Ingredients are made up of components. Genesis R&D assumes you have the spec sheets (or other records of nutrient content) you can use to enter the nutrient component amount for your ingredient.
Formula
A formula is made up of ingredients, and/or subformulas, and their amounts. This formula is what you will use to create your final product. Genesis R&D will use your formula to create the Supplement Facts label.
Product
The product is a finished formula after final processing.
