Formatting

If there is a red box around any of the text on the label image, that indicates that the content is too big for the space.

This can be corrected using one or both of the following options.

  • Click on the heading (the line with Amount Per Serving), and move the vertical black lines until the red inner boxes are gone.
  • Use the purple side boxes to drag the label until the red inner boxes are gone.
  • Use the Zoom bar in the lower left to resize the label for the screen as needed.






Ingredient Options

Click on an ingredient in the label display to see a set of options that pertain specifically to that ingredient. Each Ingredient can be modified to display the way you want it.

Ingredient Options for Calcium (Tabular Label)

  • Click the S button to show/not show the nutrient on the label.
  • Click the B button to report the nutrient name in bold.
  • Click the I button to report the nutrient name in italics.
  • The nutrient amount from the Formula screen is listed. This amount can be overwritten here.
  • The unit entered from the Formula screen is entered here. The unit can be changed for ingredients or components that are not governed by the labeling regulations. In this example, Calcium must be listed on the label in milligrams, so the unit cannot be changed.
  • The rounding rule, according to the labeling regulations, is applied to the nutrient amount by default. Uncheck the box to have the amount listed without applying the rounding rule.
  • In this example, the Calcium comes from Calcium Carbonate, which is an inactive ingredient.  There may be instances where this would be desired on the label, but for this example Calcium Carbonate is desired in the ingredient statement only, so it can be removed from the label by clicking the S button.

Ingredient Options for Green Tea (Tabular Label)

  • Clicking on Green Tea in the label display will show a different set of options that are specific to that ingredient.
  • The arrows next to the name Green Tea allow the ingredient to be moved up or down on the label.
  • Clicking the S button next to Green Tea will remove the ingredient from the label and place it in the Components section of the ribbon.
  • The nutrient amount from the Formula screen is listed. This amount can be overwritten here.
  • The unit entered from the Formula screen is displayed here. The unit can be changed for ingredients or components that are not governed by the labeling regulations. In this example, Green Tea doesn’t have a recommended Daily Intake, so the unit can be changed.

  • The rounding rule, according to the labeling regulations, is applied to the nutrient amount by default. Uncheck the box to have the amount listed without applying the rounding rule.
  • Under Components, by clicking the S button next to EGCG will add that component to the label. The Component names can be edited as desired. In the example above, 50% was added in front of EGCG.

  • The information displayed can be shown in three ways.
    • Show Inline: This displays the components on the same line as the ingredient name.
    • Show On Separate Line: This displays the components on one line, underneath the ingredient name.
    • Show With Amounts: This displays each component on its own line, with amounts listed.
  • Clicking the P (promote) button next to a component will cause it to be listed left justified on the label instead of listing it underneath the ingredient name. 
  • Under Herbal Properties, clicking the S button next to the Latin name (Camellia sinensis), source (leaf), and/or concentration will add that information to the label.

NOTE: The scientific name of the plant is optional however the source of the plant is required to be shown next to the herbal ingredient on the label.

  • The up/down arrows next to each herbal property allow the order of the items to be changed.

Ingredient Options for Green Tea (Linear Label)

  • Clicking on Green Tea in the label display will show a different set of options that are specific to that ingredient.
  • The arrows next to the name Green Tea allow the ingredient to be moved up or down on the label.
  • Clicking the S button next to Green Tea will remove the ingredient from the label and place it in the Components section of the ribbon.
  • The nutrient amount from the Formula screen is listed. This amount can be overwritten here.

Combining Like Components Above the Black Line

Mandatory or voluntary nutrient components, from either active or inactive ingredients, will be placed on the label in the order dictated by the Supplement Facts labeling guidelines. Ingredients with like components will be combined. Other ingredients will be placed on the label in the order they are listed in the formula.

Consider a formula, Calcium Plus, where two forms of calcium and two forms of magnesium are used in making the formula. After entering the ingredients into the Formula screen, the default tabular label will look similar to the screen below.










Click on each nutrient in the label display to make the appropriate edits.

Calcium

  • Clicking the S button next to calcium citrate and calcium malate in the Sources section will add these compounds next to calcium on the label.
  • The program will list these compounds in order of quantity.

Magnesium

  • Clicking the S button next to magnesium oxide and magnesium citrate in the Sources section will add these compounds next to magnesium on the label.
  • The program will list these compounds in order of quantity.

Calcium Citrate

  • This does not need to be listed on the label, since the information has been included next to Calcium.
  • Clicking the S button next to Calcium Citrate will remove this compound from the label.

Calcium Malate

  • This does not need to be listed on the label, since the information has been included next to Calcium.
  • Clicking the S button next to Calcium Malate will remove this compound from the label.

Magnesium Oxide

  • This does not need to be listed on the label, since the information has been included next to Magnesium.
  • Clicking the S button next to Magnesium Oxide will remove this compound from the label.

Magnesium Citrate

  • This does not need to be listed on the label, since the information has been included next to Magnesium.
  • Clicking the S button next to Magnesium Citrate will remove this compound from the label.

The image below shows the resulting label, combining calcium and magnesium from different sources.

 

Combining Like Components Below the Black Line

Ingredient components that are placed below the black line can also be combined. Consider a formula such as Protein Powder, that contains two ingredients, whey protein concentrate and soy protein isolate. After entering the ingredients into the Formula screen, the default tabular label will look similar to the screen below.

  • Click on Whey Protein Concentrate to see the dialog options box appear on the left.
  • From the box, click P (promote) next to Glutamic Acid. The program will list Glutamic Acid on the label, left justified.
  • Now click Glutamic Acid on the label and click S (show) next to Whey Protein Concentrate and Soy Protein Isolate.
  • Click the button next to "show inline". The program will list the ingredients in weight order. Using this method, amino acids such as Glutamic Acid can be listed on the label, left justified, with the source ingredient(s) listed in parentheses.
  • If all of the amino acids for both sample ingredients are listed, the resulting label will look similar to the screen below. The program will list the amino acids in weight order.
