Program Options allow you to manage (create, edit, delete) fine-tuning, search refining and organizational aspects of the Genesis Foods application.
Options are divided into two sections: Program Settings and User Settings.
Program Settings are settings that can be adjusted and will impact every user that uses the application. If User One adds a new Product, User 2 will see that Product.
User Settings are settings that can be adjusted and will only be visible to that user. If User 1 makes a change, User 2 will not see that change in the application.
All options that are displayed in a scrollable list can be filtered by typing a full or partial name in the corresponding “Filter…” text box.
Tags, Products, Suppliers, and Custom Fields are created by typing in a unique name in the corresponding text box and clicking the Save button.
See the Custom Nutrient entry for the specifics on creating a Custom Nutrient.

Tags
Tags are used to organize your Ingredients and Recipes and help to refine and filter searches.
Examples:
Place a “Dessert” tag on all Recipes that are considered Desserts.
Place a “Spice” Tag on all Ingredients used to spice up a formulation.
Search later by the “Dessert” tag and see all your dessert Recipes appear as results, or “Spices” to see all the Ingredients you can use as spices.
To add a tag to the program
Type the tag into the box. There is no need to add the #hashtag
Click Save.
To remove a user-added tag from the program
Check the box beside the tag or tags you want to remove
Click the trashcan
A dialog will ask you if you’re sure. Click OK.
Note: Some tags shipped with the program. You cannot remove these.
Custom Nutrients
Genesis Foods tracks 155+ nutrients, everything from Added Sugars to Zinc. Even so, there might be something we do not track that you want to track for your Ingredients. If that’s the case, you can create a Custom Nutrient you can populate in your Ingredients.
To create a Custom Nutrient
Enter the full name of the Nutrient in the “Add Nutrient” text box
Enter an abbreviated form of that name in the “Abbreviation” text box
Select a Unit (g, mg, kg, etc.) from the Measure combo box.
The full name will be used in all Nutrient grids, the Abbreviation will be used in the UI where space is at a premium or on some reports.
Product and Suppliers
Genesis Foods comes with a list of Products and Suppliers you can choose to associate with an Ingredient or Recipe, again, for organization or search filtering purposes. You can also add your own.
To add a Product or Supplier
Type in the name
Click Save
To see only those you have added
Check the “My Products Only” or “My Suppliers Only” checkboxes.
To delete a user-added Product or Supplier
Check the box
Click the trashcan at the top right
Custom fields
Genesis Foods gives you the ability to add as many uniquely named Custom Fields as you would like. This allows you to make sure that any field you add to the application accurately reflects the data in that field.
Examples:
Create a field called Line Number to track which production line the Recipe is created on
Create a field called Facility ID to track where the Recipe was formulated.
User Settings
Nutrients to view
By default, Genesis Foods will display all 155+ Nutrients we track in the program in each Nutrient table. We have preconfigured a series of Nutrients to view lists that will change the Nutrients displayed in those tables, such as Label - US 2016 All, which would show all Nutrients that are displayed on a US 2016 label.
Users can also create, edit, and delete their own custom Nutrients to view lists so they can see only the Nutrients they are interested in seeing. The Nutrients to view lists that one user creates cannot be seen by another user in the same Organization.
Decimal places
By default, Genesis Foods shows each Nutrient value rounded to two decimal places. If a user would like to see a different number of decimal places, they can specify the number of decimal places they’d like visible here.
New ingredient tags, new recipe tags, and new label tags
Tags can always be added and removed from an Ingredient, Recipe, or Label in their respective workspaces. However, if there is a specific Tag or Tags a user would like to be automatically added to a newly created Ingredient, Recipe, or Label those Tags can be specified here.
