Versioning
Genesis Foods allows you to have versions of a Recipe or Ingredient by using the Approval option, and not requiring you to Save As with a unique name for each version.
When you approve a Recipe or Ingredient, you can no longer edit that saved version at all. Instead, as soon as you make a change, the application automatically creates a draft version of that Recipe or Ingredient with the changes.
Example:
Create an Ingredient (“Steakbite Test”) with 10g of protein and approve it. You will see that it’s now Version V1:
...
If you then make a change — the supplier has updated the protein amount to 11g, say — an editable draft will automatically be created and you will see “Draft,” indicating that this is the currently editable version.
...
You can compare any two versions of that Ingredient.
...
The search will find all versions of that Ingredient and display the version numbers.

Note: Only the draft version is editable and only the latest approved version can be opened as a draft. |
Labels
The Label workspace is substantially different from the Ingredient and Recipe workspaces. One example: Your Labels don’t have the option to add custom fields or tags. This is because all of the Labels you create will be dependent on a Recipe, which does have these features.
Navigation
Genesis Foods primarily uses the single-page, vertical layout for each main section - Ingredient, Recipe, Label, Option. This, with the help of Quick Links, has been shown to be the easiest, most user-friendly navigation method.
